THINKING OF WHAT DEPARTMENT TO JOIN IN CHURCH??? | HERE ARE FIVE REASONS TO JOIN YOUR CHURCH CHOIR

       

Hey people of God! Welcome to today's article; I apologise for going M.I.A for sometime now, more details on why in another blog post. Hope you've missed me as much as I have missed you😉. Today's article is quite interesting, so relax, grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride read😅

  Now for you who is reading this and already thinking "this post isn't for me " , since you probably aren't interested in joining your church choir, do not jump and pass, I repeat DO NOT JUMP & PASS!!!😅 There is still something for you to learn from my six years choir experience that can be applied in other areas of your life. 

    Joining a department in church is very paramount to you, never think for one second that you are doing God or your pastor a favour by joining a department; instead, you ought to know that it gives you an opportunity to express your God-given talent which He expects you to utilize in His house - plus it gives you room to learn and grow. Below are some of the reasons to make the choir department your number one choice and having a "Mariah Carey" type of voice is not a requirement😅

》》 You get to improve your cognitive skills: Sometimes I wonder how I am able to learn and know the lyrics to many songs at the same time. Well I believe it's as a result of constant rehearsals which in turn helps to exercise my brain. Being a part of the choir improves your memory and teaches you different languages and pronunciation.

》》 You become a better listener: In every relationship that exists on earth today, being a good listener is essential and that requires lots of patience and concentration which I have learnt from been a part of the choir. Listening to the lead singer for when he or she moves on to the next song or line is a great way to learn how to pay attention and respond appropriately.

》》You get to reduce your ego😁: This point actually reminds me of the very first time I joined a choir in a youth fellowship for a major program that was coming up some years back. That was the first time I took my first bold step to join the department. I already knew I could sing which I thought was the only requirement but there was more for me to learn and during one of the rehearsals, I learnt the hard way😅 While the lead singer was singing and the rest of us backed him up, I got carried away and started taking on the role of the lead singer by doing ad-lib just because I enjoyed the song and had learnt it well😂 but the choir cordinator corrected me which made me feel a bit embarrassed, I remember not wanting to sing again for the rest of the rehearsals😂 

However that experience helped me grow to know that my music ministry is less about me and more about God😊Plus I have learnt how to ACCEPT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM  and use it effectively. 

》》 You get to exercise your lungs: Singing is a form of exercise which strengthens your muscles and lung capacity unlike jogging, dancing etc it doesn't aid weightloss but it improves your immune system. Although it is important to note that being active in other forms of Physical exercises is very good for your voice.

》》 Finally, you get to have loads of fun, meet new people and make lots of long lasting friendships: One of my current close friends is a part of the choir in my church, he inspires me alot and encourages me to be the absolute best esp in my music ministry😊 p.s:he persuaded me to start blogging when I told him about the idea and he was also involved in the setting up process for this blog (Gracias amigo😁).

I am forever grateful to God for the great privilege of being a part of the choir and every amazing moment I get to enjoy. I sincerely hope I have been able to convince you and not confuse you to join the choir department today😁 or any other department as you are led by God's Spirit.
